Gum (Eucalyptus) poles are mostly used in building and construction. Pine poles are mostly used for cutting boards and other wooden slats used in homes and buildings. Gum and pine trees are not origininally from South Africa. Eucalyptus trees originate from Australia and have been imported and refined in South Africa since the 19th century. Pine trees are native to Europe and the Mediterranean region and have existed for hundreds of years.
