Types of Solid Wood
Kiaat
It’s heartwood colour can vary from a light golden brown to a medium brown with a reddish or purplish tint. Grains can be straight, wavy, or interlocked; its texture ranges from fine to medium, with a nice natural luster. Kiaat has very good working properties, and turns, glues, and finishes well.
Blackwood
Is a medium-sized Australian hardwood that grows in South Australia and the eastern states. In the wetter areas of Tasmania, it is grown in large volumes for commercial use. It is an ‘appearance timber’, with a heartwood that is a rich golden brown.
Rhodesian Teak
The grain of Rhodesian Teak is interlocked to straight and texture fine. Teak is naturally durable and resistant to termite attack. High resin content makes this timber most suitable to heavy duty flooring applications. Movement in service is considered small and stable.
Saligna/Red Grandis
Saligna eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Saligna, Smith) is a diffuse-porous hardwood native to Australia where it is commonly known as Sydney blue gum. … general-purpose hardwood, it has mainly been used for construction as plates, joists, and studs and for flooring and steps.
Oregon Pine
It is known for being very stiff for a lightweight wood, which has seen it be used as both an acoustic guitar soundboard and an electric guitar body wood with progressive builders, in recent years. Grains can vary from straight to wavy to irregular, with flatsawn pieces often possessing wild, dramatic grain patterns. It is moderately durable, has excellent working properties (cuts, glues, stains and finishes well) and a good strength-to-weight ratio.
American White Oak
White Oak has long been considered one of the preeminent hardwoods of Central & Eastern America. The trees commonly live for hundreds of years, if left undisturbed. The colour of the heartwood can vary from a light golden tan to a light to medium brown. The grains are straight.
American Red Oak
Red Oak has a light brown heartwood colour, with a reddish tint. Due to its basically light coloration, it is not always that easy to distinguish its sap from its heart. Like its many cousins, quartersawn examples display varying amounts of its renowned “ray fleck” patterns.
Ashwood
Ash is a light coloured, smooth-grained hardwood that grows throughout the east coast and parts of Canada. With its typical straight grain and beige-to-light-brown hue, ash wood is a very attractive option for fine furniture.
US Walnut
American black walnut is a medium to large hardwood, native to the eastern regions of North America. Its heartwood ranges from a golden to rich chocolate brown colour, sometimes with narrow streaks of a darker purplish brown. Sapwood is a distinctive creamy white colour.
Iroko
Iroko wood, wood of the iroko tree (Chlorophora excelsa), native to the west coast of Africa. … The wood is tough, dense, and very durable. It is often used in cabinetmaking and panelling as a substitute for teak, which it resembles both in colour (light brown to deep golden-brown) and in grain.

Fancy Ply's
Fancy plywood, also known as decorative plywood, fancy board, composite decorative board, is made of plywood, fibreboard, or particleboard as the base material, and is made of precious tree species, cut veneer, and imported matt paper of various colours.
OSB Board
OSB is an engineered wood-based panel material in which long strands of wood are bonded together with a synthetic resin adhesive. OSB is usually composed of three layers, with the strands of the outer two layers orientated in a particular direction, often in the long direction of the panel.
Shutter Board
Shutterply consists of layers of 100% Pine ply to form an economical building board. This board is intended for construction use and sub floors only and does not have the superior waterproof glue or superior ply’s of a Marine or Exterior ply board.
Blockboard & Birch Ply
Birch plywood is characterized by excellent strength and stiffness properties, and therefore it performs very well in applications demanding high strength and rigidity. Marine Ply
Marine-grade plywood is a sturdier, higher-quality material made of Western Larch or Douglas-fir that is not treated with chemicals. This type of wood’s thin sheets of veneer (plies) is usually set up perpendicularly as part of a process called cross-lamination that helps strengthen the material
Pine Ply
Pine plywood is finished off with a pine veneer (thin layer of pine) on one side in a B + C face.
